Quantitative analysis of full and empty particles in adeno-associated virus vectors for gene therapy
In this event, Professor Susumu Uchiyama, Department of Biotechnology, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, presents his work around adeno-associated virus (AAV) characterisation using cryo-electron microscopy.
In recent years, AAV vectors have been launched and are considered one of the main platforms for gene therapy, with more than 250 clinical trials conducted in the USA and in European countries.
On the other hand, production and purification methods for AAV vectors are not mature and the final product contains a certain amount of impurities.
Professor Uchiyama explains how cryo-electron microscopy combined with deep learning classification of the particle images is a powerful approach for such high full particle content AAV vectors.
What you will learn:
- The importance of EF ratio in AAV vectors
- Advanced techniques for EF ratio quantification
- Challenges in high full particle content analysis
- Innovative approaches in AAV vector analysis
A Q&A session follows the webinar presentation.
