eBook: The significance of mAbs in drug discovery and development
Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), thanks to their low toxicity and high specificity, have enjoyed incredible market success across a range of disease categories.
Of the 2024 top 10 bestselling drugs, half were mAbs, with Merck’s Keytruda (pembrolizumab) in the lead, followed by Abbvie’s Humira (adalimumab), Sanofi and Regeneron’s Dupixent (dupilumab), Jannsen’s Stelara (ustekinumab), and Bristol Myers Squibb and Ono’s Opdivo (nivolumab).
However, the next few years could be challenging for this therapy class, with loss of market exclusivity on the horizon for Humira, which lost its patent in January 2023, resulting in a 32% decline in sales (according to GlobalData), Opdivo and Keytruda, which both lose exclusivity in 2028.
This new eBook, sponsored by Evotec, examines the challenges, solutions and successes in mAb discovery and development.
