Countable Labs has said it has raised $26 million to accelerate its clinical product development and the global commercialisation of Countable PCR.

The biotechnology company raised the capital in an oversubscribed financing round, which will allow it to leverage capabilities to support cell and gene therapy, minimal residual disease testing (MRD), biomarker validation, vaccine quality control, and other applications.

This will include the global commercialisation of Countable PCR, a scalable single-molecule quantification technology. Countable Labs says the technology delivers superior sensitivity and precision to digital PCR, with no Poisson correction, no standard curves, and no ambiguity.

Countable PCR could also offer capabilities including molecular linkage, enabling scientists to understand patterns of heredity and regions of the genome associated with disease.

“2026 is a critical year for Countable Labs’ momentum,” said Giovanna Prout, Chief Executive Officer at Countable Labs.

“This financing gives us the resources to ensure every laboratory that could benefit from a more sensitive genomics measurement solution finds Countable PCR.

“Our initial studies with clinical samples and use cases validated the technology’s robustness. Now we must develop and globally market new products for key customer segments, such as cell and gene therapy and MRD, where labs need easy-to-use precision measurement solutions that go beyond the capabilities of digital PCR.”

Countable Labs says the funding will support the company’s global commercial expansion under the leadership of newly appointed Vice President of Global Sales, Christopher Citraro.

“The future of genomic testing requires technologies that are simple, sensitive, and inexpensive, helping to democratise access to genomic diagnostics, and high-volume genome-based clinical and industrial testing,” Citraro said.

“Countable PCR is exactly that, a technological step change that bridges the gap between complex digital PCR and the discoveries of next-generation sequencing, delivering clear, unambiguous results at scale.”
